This game deserves to be played by everyone – seriously, what more could want?
Rockstar’s new GTA 5 is quite possibly the most anticipated, biggest, and the most successful release of any game. Thematic resonance, diverse activities, tight game play, complex characters are freshly complimented by an open world so big and so impressive, which will leave you in disbelief.
It’s the story this team (Rockstar) of artists, designers, programmers and script-writers have been working on for more than 14 years. The game takes on, not 1 but, 3 playable protagonists; that is, Michael, Franklin and Trevor. The team at Rockstar Games stays true to their word and does not compromise any core elements that their fan base – which comprises millions of gamers worldwide – have come to expect. GTA 5 provides a fresh and a dynamic experience to players. Core themes of this game are; conflict, contrast and crossing lines you think should never be crossed. As one great guy puts it; “It’s about awful people, living in an awful world, doing awful things and it’s awesome.” GTA 5 is filled with comedy, action and drama. It has it and does it all.
Protagonists and Missions Brief
Michael, Franklin and Trevor, the protagonists, could each have starred in their own GTA game separately but matched up together the result is a thrilling, intense, gripping and darkly comic game play. It starts as simple mischiefs and acts of grand theft auto but quickly escalates into some of the most blatant and audacious game play mission set pieces ever.
Planes, trains, bikes, jet skis – just about anything that can move can be and is used to get around, get in and get out of mischiefs and criminal acts.
Perhaps, one mission that you will live to remember is where the protagonist, flies his plane right into another one, gets out and fights the crew before hijacking the plane. A few moments later and the plane’s mechanisms fail then he’s forced to parachute out of it with military fight jets hot on his tail. The kick of adrenaline rush you get when doing this might just turn you into a junkie. The exhilarating scene – as you parachute – of the pilotless plane crashing into the sea is the icing on the cake.
One distinct and perhaps the most important addition in terms of upgrade, from GTA IV, is the mission checkpoint system. Players will not have to go through the trouble of repeating long missions but can simply start off from their last checkpoint.
Open World and Roaming
It is easy to mistake the world you’re in for a smaller one. As expected, the player’s time is divided between driving, roaming and mission gun play with welcoming distractions like sports and character customization appropriately fixed in between. Just like its predecessor, GTA IV, game play is split into story missions, side missions and randomly occurring events. You won’t get bored for the first 48 hours or so. One of the most accomplished free roaming areas we’ve ever seen, Los Santos is diverse, captivating and breathtaking. Its potential for criminal acts and mischief is one none like other.
Without a doubt, one of the most annoying features of GTA IV was the excess brown color in gameplay but Rockstar Games have injected some color back into GTA 5 and clear distinctions can now be seen in different surfaces. The great city of Los Santos is a rainbow collage of clear blue skies, and green grass with fancy red sports cars dotting the streets. There is noticeably impressive detail on nearly every feature. GTA 5 is the epitome of what video games represents as a work of art and as a popular entertainment.
